The Tides OceanView Inn & Cottages is a contemporary motel located in Pismo Beach, on the famous central coast of California. The two-story motel, comprising 23 guestrooms, three cottages, and one beach house, was fully renovated in May 2024. The design is modern and fun, blending bohemian and retro surfer styles with natural elements. This creates a hip atmosphere that invites traveling families, remote workers, millennials, and surfers to stop and enjoy the surroundings, both inside and out.
The reception area welcomes visitors with a beach-inspired desk adorned with reeded ash panels, contrasted by a light quartz surface and illuminated by simple modern pendants. Saltillo-style floor tiles add pattern to the space, while warm wood furnishings and a custom rattan coffee station set the stage for the rest of the property.
Guestrooms and cottages blend modern with organic, a perfect accent to the unobstructed beach views. Timeless, muted furniture is paired with playful accessories, retro artwork, and pops of color, making the space comfortable and memorable.
The property's outdoor area features modern seating, fire pits, and outdoor games, encouraging visitors to socialize and enjoy the stunning views.
A two-toned painted feature wall at the headboard embraces the colours of the ocean and enhances the space, while being a cost-effective solution to a heavily textured wall. Functional furniture and cased-goods offer space saving solutions, creating a feeling of space in smaller rooms. The kitchens are bright and warm with a bold coloured back splash, reflecting the feel of the nearby beach.
